Today, we're diving into a delightful scrapbooking journey with the talented Mary-Ann Maldonado. She's got a fantastic video for us, where she's creating a textured layout using the April 2023 kits from Hip Kit Club, and revisiting the October 2022 Color Kit. 

Mary-Ann's project is all about letting the paper do the work. She uses dies to cut out pieces of paper, adding a unique touch to her layout. She also uses a purple Nuvo from the color story kit to add texture and sparkle. Who doesn't love a bit of sparkle, right? ✨

The photo she's working with is of her mother and sister on Mother's Day, and she heat sets the layout. She emphasizes the importance of layering and placement, and also mentions using a heat gun to speed up the drying process. It's all about the details! 📸🔥

Mary-Ann adds a tag and uses letter stickers for the title, and mentions using color coordination in her design. She also mentions using a lifter tool to add and tuck in elements as they go along. It's clear that every element in her design is thoughtfully placed. 🏷️🎨

She used yellow and orange colors and added embellishments for texture. She recommends a particular type of paper and Nuvo drops for additional embellishments. The result is a vibrant, textured layout that's just bursting with creativity! 🌼🍊

There you are, staring at your supplies. They’re beautiful, but you’re unsure about how to get going on your next scrapbook page. Give a mood board challenge a try! Hi, friends! I'm Jana Eubank. Today I’m sharing my latest layout using the May Mood Board Challenge from the Hip Kit Club Facebook Group. Want to play along? How do you use a mood board? Well, that is up to you! Look at the photos on the mood board and use the colors, shapes, and textures to guide your design decisions. Watch the video below, where I will explain how I used the April 2023 Hip Kits and this mood board to create the ‘Mermaid Tale’ layout shown below.

I began this page with the top three photos of the mood board as inspiration. I loved the purple and blue colors mixed with many florals spilling out of the baskets and buckets around the bicycle. I decided to create a column of photos surrounded by lots of soft, pretty flowers.

Before assembling my layout, I used the two photos in the bottom-right corner of the mood board as inspiration to add tonal stamping to the background paper. Here you can see where I used the Coffee Stain stamp and the Mini Postage Stamp Texture stamp (April Embellishment Kit) on the purple patterned paper.

I stacked my photos and then used florals created with the October 2022 Color Kit along with black and white floral die-cuts (April Main Kit) and clear stickers (April Embellishment Kit) to spill out from behind. (NOTE: The stamped florals were left over from my last Hip Kit Club layout – watch the video HERE if you’d like to see how I made these flowers using inks, embossing ink, and drips of water & paint.)

I also added pieces of flowers along the top-right edge of the page. The flower centers are dotted with the Lemon Twist Nuvo Drops from the April 2023 Color Kit.

To the right of my photos column, I used a 6×4 Journal Card from the April Pocket Life Kit to house my title and journaling. I was inspired by fellow design team member, Sophie Delorme, to add the Pixie Wings Nuvo Glacier Paste (April Color Kit) to the navy chipboard letters (April Main Kit) for a shimmery, mermaid feel. I also dabbed the Glacier Paste onto several of the flowers.

Below the journaling I added a section of scalloped patterned paper because it reminded me of fish scales, tying into the theme of my page.

All the elements together create a layout that makes you feel like you’re swimming through an underwater seascape. I love it!

Hey there, scrapbooking enthusiasts! 🎉

We've got a treat for you today. Our very own Sarah Millerhouse has just dropped a new video that's all about creating a stunning scrapbook layout. And guess what? It's all about the magic of April kits and a beautiful April cutfile - Rainbow Scallops! 🌈

Sarah starts off by diving headfirst into her past color kits, pulling out all sorts of goodies to create a gorgeous gradient of pink, orange, and yellow. It's like watching a sunset on paper, folks! 🌅

But wait, there's more! She's not just layering colors, she's layering products to create a wash effect on the background. And when things get a little messy (because let's face it, creativity can be messy), she's got her trusty paper towel at the ready to blot up any rogue areas.

Now, here's where things get really fun. Sarah's got her Cricut out and she's cutting a rainbow scallop background cut file. This isn't just any cut file, though. She's turning those rainbow scallops upside down for a totally unique look. And she's not stopping at one color. Nope, she's adding pink, orange, and purple to those scallops and even throwing in some glitter paste for good measure. ✨

Sarah's got some pro tips for us too. She suggests using patterned papers stacked together, but with a twist. Pair busier patterns with more solid colors in between to avoid overwhelming the layout. And don't forget to layer different colors and textures, use embellishments and flowers from the April kits, and create clusters of embellishments to add interest to the layout.

She's also sharing a scrapbook page she created using floral clusters and circles punched out of paper. The pictures on the page are from Mother's Day, and she admits to being a little behind on scrapbooking (aren't we all?). But the result is a beautiful layout featuring the phrase "make every moment count" and various decorative elements such as hearts, a clock, and flowers. 🌸
